Widely regarded as one of the most capable and creative talents in the public affairs arena, our firm’s founder is credited with creating the genre of national issue advocacy advertising with the launch of the Harry & Louise campaign opposing the Clinton Health Care Reform Proposal of 1993-94. Ben produced two award-winning feature films as well as campaigns for major motion picture and television studios. His creative work has earned him a television Emmy and a place in the Smithsonian permanent collection.

Gerry Gunster oversees international and state advocacy issues, providing strategic counsel for Goddard Gunster and directing ballot measure and branding campaigns. Gerry has a remarkable success record managing issue advocacy and ballot measure campaigns in more than twenty states and Washington, D.C. He is the recipient of the 2013 AAPC Excellence Award for “Best Public Affairs Campaign of the Year.”

Jonathan Stember brings more than 20 years of international leadership and global experience to the firm. He has built multicultural coalitions and advocacy campaigns domestically and internationally. Jonathan’s breadth of international experience made him an essential leader while aiding Britain’s 2016 Leave.EU campaign.  He is an active member of the International Association of Political Consultants and counts several Fortune 500 companies among his clients.

Melissa Gallant comes to Goddard Gunster with a broad background that includes general advertising, issue advocacy, member-to-member communications, and political advertising. She has experience with a diverse range of clients on the local, state, national, and international level. Melissa has won numerous awards and was part of the creative team that won the first Yahoo! Big Idea Chair ever awarded to a political firm.

Rob Leggat

Rob Leggat is a senior strategist for Goddard Gunster. Throughout his more than thirty-year career, Rob has managed communication and public policy campaigns for companies like General Motors Asia Pacific, and Walmart International. Prior to joining Goddard Gunster, Rob oversaw all areas of corporate communication, government and public affairs, crisis communication, and strategic philanthropy for Walmart’s fifteen international markets as vice president of Walmart International corporate affairs.

Cesar Vargas

Cesar Vargas brings more than 20 years of experience developing and successfully executing sophisticated public affairs strategies in over 100 markets worldwide. Cesar’s experience includes work guiding Fortune 100 companies and trade associations through extreme and punitive regulatory, fiscal, and litigation-related challenges.In addition to country-specific activity, Cesar has successfully managed issues pending before regional trade blocks and supranational governments such as the European Union and the Eurasian Customs Union. He is based in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Before joining Goddard Gunster, Dwayne Bickford served as both campaign manager and consultant on numerous statewide and federal ballot measure campaigns and grassroots advocacy initiatives. He acted as Victory Director for two federal coordinated campaigns and has been considered a trusted adviser among candidates running for governor, U.S. Senate, Congress, state, and local offices.

Dan Colegrove is the former Vice President of Government Affairs for DineEquity, Inc. and the current President and CEO of ACME Public Affairs. Dan is a seasoned political veteran with nearly 25 years of success in building and directing comprehensive public affairs organizations for some of the world’s largest corporations. His extensive professional and political network spans government, corporate, and business alliances. Dan acts as Senior Advisor to Goddard Gunster, assisting our clients with strategic responses to far-reaching social, economic, market, and policy issues.

Jamie Grigg

Jamie Grigg graduated from Wofford College in South Carolina with a major in English and a minor in business with a concentration in communications. She has extensive experience in fundraising and donor recruitment as well as event planning for several non-profit organizations. While at Goddard Gunster, Jamie’s focus has been public policy grassroots outreach at the state and local levels; notably in Baltimore, Philadelphia, Massachusetts, California, and Maryland. Jamie also has a breadth of knowledge in the ballot initiative process.

Garrett Swink

Account Manager and Business Analyst

Garrett Swink is an Account Manager and Business Analyst at Goddard Gunster. Since joining the firm, Garrett has assisted in managing numerous statewide grassroots campaigns in Massachusetts, California, and Colorado, among others. He is currently focused on the development of new business partnerships, with an emphasis on ongoing free trade negotiations. His expertise lies in research and analysis. He is a graduate of Saint Lawrence University and holds a bachelor’s degree in English.

Javier Garcia

Director of Operations

Javier Garcia has broad background in institution recruitment including petition gathering, coalition phone centers, and literature distribution initiatives in major markets including California, New York, and Washington D.C. He has designed and implemented staff education programs to ensure the highest quality of target engagement for the various campaigns. Javier has managed campaign messaging across the various channels found in Indian Country from reservation cc-TV, traditional printed media, Tribal websites, social media outlets and independent blogs. Javier is a Dartmouth College graduate with extensive experience serving minority and underprivileged groups.

William Müller

Director of Global Outreach

William Müller currently serves as the Director of Global Outreach, working closely with Goddard Gunster’s executive team to expand the business internationally while keeping a pulse on the political climate in the U.S. As the founder of Müller Consulting, William managed grassroots efforts for state and local issue advocacy campaigns throughout the United States and abroad. He holds a B.A. in Marketing from Catholic University of America.

Copywriter

Gabi D. Brown brings more than nine years of storytelling experience to Goddard Gunster. She is the former editorial manager for LivingSocial – she led a team of eight copy editors and produced thousands of advertising campaigns for nationally acclaimed brands, including Michael Kors, Costco, Google Express, Rosetta Stone, and more. In 2011, Gabi served as the executive producer of NPR’s Intern Edition, managing a team of 60 interns in Washington, D.C., Chicago, and NPR West.  

Sue Zoldak

Sue Zoldak has managed numerous federal legislative and regulatory advocacy efforts and is considered an inside-the-beltway communications expert. Sue has worked with major trade associations including the U.S. Travel Association, National Retail Federation, American Council of Life Insurers, American Medical Association, American Insurance Association, American Beverage Association, and Edison Electric Institute. Her work in corporate public affairs includes clients CSA Travel Protection, General Motors, CBS, AstraZeneca and Nestlé Waters.
